Progress Made in the Localization of Raw Fiber Equipment

Precursor filament production sits at the very upstream end of the carbon-fiber industry chain, accounting for nearly half of the total cost of PAN-based carbon fiber and serving as a pivotal link that directly influences both product quality and economic viability. In January 2026, Jinggong Technology successfully commissioned its first domestically developed carbon-fiber precursor filament production line, achieving the successful production of high-performance PAN precursor filaments. The line employs a “one-step” process technology that delivers a reaction conversion rate exceeding 90% and enables spinning speeds of 200–400 meters per minute. This breakthrough has established a complete, end-to-end equipment layout spanning the entire value chain—from precursor filament to carbonization and composite materials—thereby reducing reliance on imported core equipment and enhancing the overall resilience and self-sufficiency of China’s domestic carbon-fiber industry chain.
