Differentiated Competition in Process Routes
China’s carbon-fiber industry has now established a clear, diversified technological roadmap and a differentiated competitive landscape. Different companies are deploying resources in niche segments based on their respective technological strengths. For example, Jilin Chemical Fiber, leveraging its wet-spinning process, has achieved a cost advantage in the large-tow civilian market, with its products delivering outstanding performance in applications such as wind-turbine blades. Meanwhile, companies like Zhongfu Shenying and Guangwei Composite Materials focus on the dry-jet-wet spinning process, targeting markets such as aerospace and equipment manufacturing. In addition, wet-spun carbon fiber, owing to its distinctive “bark-like” surface texture and excellent toughness, remains a key material choice in sectors like aerospace; the commissioning of Jilin Chemical Fiber’s wet-spun 3K carbonization line has further strengthened its supply capacity in this area. This diversified process portfolio helps avoid homogeneous competition and promotes the healthy development of the industry.
